Hundreds gathered in Selma for the 57th annual Bridge Crossing Jubilee in Selma, Alabama this past weekend.

Amongst the crowd were Stillman College staff and student leaders.

Upon arriving on Saturday morning students had a chance to meet and chat with foot soldiers during the Foot Soldiers Breakfast.

Senior and Miss Stillman College, Destiny Gardner, said she was grateful for the experience.

“I’m grateful for this moment and am honored to be here in Selma, Alabama and stand of the shoulders of many advocates,” she said.

Not missing an opportunity to spread information about opportunities at Stillman College, they set up a table during the festival in an effort to recruit new students.

They later had an opportunity to visit the Legacy Museum in Montgomery, Alabama on Saturday evening.

On Sunday, they joined Salute Selma for their Commitment to Excellence Brunch. Gardner said this was a great opportunity to represent Stillman College.

“To represent Stillman College in Selma Alabama means a lot,” she said. “This is an opportunity to leave a legacy where I can physically, mentally, and emotionally take in what several of my ancestors did before me.”

Not only did the students attend the brunch, Stillman College president Dr. Cynthia Warrick, a sponsor for the event, spoke and brought greetings from the school.

Warrick gave a brief history on the school and introduced the student leaders to attendees.

Stillman College senior and SGA president, George Warnesley offered thanks to the audience for having them while offering inspirational words.

“There is no mountain to big and no ocean to wide and we can always keep moving,” he said.

Stillman College staff and students marched across the Edmund Pettus Bridge alongside hundreds from around the world.
