Many are in need of warmer accessories as temperatures drop and cold winter weather approaches this winter. The M.O.V.E. Community Foundation decided to "Spread the Warmth" on Friday, December 2nd in an effort to assist with the need.

The organization visited locations in each of their four service areas delivering hats, gloves, and blankets. M.O.V.E. president, Yeteva Johnson, said the effort was an essential part of the their mission.

"M.O.V.E. wants to guarantee effective community revitalization projects with a main focus in the Dallas, Perry, Lowndes and Autauga counties of Alabama," she said. "One of our strongest resource is our people."

Members delivered the items to the Autauga County Board of Education - federal programs, Perry County Board of Education- homeless liaisons, Lowndes County School Board, and the Dallas County Learning Resource Center.

Johnson believes that providing weather appropriate items to children can have a positive affect on their performance in school.

"We wanted to do our part to help the student community arrive at school ready to learn and not recovering from the cold walk they may have just come in from," she said.

Johnson also said it is important to remember those who will suffer the most from the impending weather conditions.

"It’s also important to remember our seniors and/or homeless citizens during this time of year with not only warm thoughts but warm items. We also hope that this opens the door for others to do likewise," she said.

With less than a year under their belt, M.O.V.E. already has big things in store for next year.

"M.O.V.E. is just getting started on our community projects and we intend to make 2023 even better," Johnson said. " Plans are in the works for resume workshops, Trade School introductions to elementary and junior high students, a bounce back program, and much more."

With those large projects in the works, the organization is always actively accepting collaboration and assistance.

"We are always looking for volunteers and donations are welcome to assist with the continued work in the community," Johnson said. "Both can be done on our website. We also invite you to #jointheMOVEment by following all of our social media sites."
