Perry, Marengo, Wilcox Counties to receive over $44 million in relief as part of American Rescue Plan

Congresswoman Terri Sewell of Alabama’s 7th Congressional district continued her American Rescue Plan District Tour on Tuesday April 6 & 7th stopping in Perry, Wilcox, and Marengo Counties.

The three counties will receive a total of $44.615 million in relief to be used towards essential needs in the communities.

Sewell stopped in Marengo and Wilcox Counties on Tuesday, April 6th to personally meet with county and city officials to deliver the checks.

The next day she continued the tour to Perry County and held a short press conference outside of the Perry County Courthouse. 

Sewell said during her speech, that she understands these funds will be a great help to the community.

“We know that we have alot of catching up to do and it’s my job as your representative to make sure that you get your fair share,” she said.

The funds will be distributed as follows:

•Perry County

Perry County: $1.73 million

Perry County Schools: $8.595 million

The City of Marion: $580,000

The City of Uniontown: $410,000

Total: $11.315 million

•Marengo County

Marengo County: $3.66 million

Marengo County Schools: $5.403 million

The City of Demopolis: $1.23 million

Demopolis City Schools: $5.479 million

The City of Linden: $350,000

Linden City Schools: $3.437 million

Total: $19.56 million

•Wilcox County

Wilcox County: $2.01 million

Wilcox County Schools: $11.244 million

The City of Pine Hill: $160,000

The City of Camden: $330,000

Total: $13.74 million
