Blackbelt Reports will celebrate its one month anniversary and official launch on April 18th at 2 p.m. at the Coffee Shoppe in Selma.

The small news outlet was launched on March 8, 2021 as a resource of local news for the Blackbelt community. Editor, Oniska Blevins, started Blackbelt Reports as an effort to highlight the  positive things going on in and around the Blackbelt area.

"I started Blackbelt Reports to shine a light on all of the positivity happening in the blackbelt area," she said. "I want community members to have a small intimate news outlet where they can see themselves represented often.

The launch brunch will serve as an official introduction of the news outlet to the community.

Not only is this event a celebration, it is also a networking opportunity for small businesses. Community members and local officials are welcome to join and meet the editor.

Brunch will be served and the event is free to everyone. However, each guest will have the opportunity to purchase a $10 goody bag filled with Blackbelt Reports merchandise and more.
