Cycling for a Cause: Local nonprofit finds a healthy way to give back to community

Cyclists pose for photo after 42 mile ride from Montgomery to Selma last year.

In just one week, community members will lace up their sneakers and cycle for a cause.

All 4 Love nonprofit will host its Cycling 4 Love event on March 20th. The five mile trail will start at the School of Discovery and end back at the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. house.

Johnathan “QB” Harris, All 4 Love president and CEO, said this event will benefit the community in a big way.

“I knew the city needed something for the youth and to promote health and education,” he said.

All proceeds raised will be used as a resource to provide GED prep, tutoring services, and sports training to community members.

Aside from the educational benefits, Harris said it is their hope to introduce a healthy lifestyle option through cycling.

“We want to introduce the city to all of the benefits of cycling and promote health,” he said. “This is just one of the health initiatives that we have.”

Last year, the organization participated in a 42 mile  trail from Montgomery to Selma. As a result, they were able to provide 50 meals and 50 goody bags to homeless Selma citizens.

All cyclists will meet at the School of Discovery at 9:15 am and depart at 10am on March 20th. Single adult registration is $20, adult and child is $25, two adults with two children or less is $40. Registration will include a t-shirt, goody bag, and beverages along the trail. The ride will end with a meal from Southern Groove 27 at the Omega fraternity house.

To register contact Johnathan “QB” Harris at (334) 505-9834.
