Moving Marion Forward: Local business owner plans Pop Up shop to Support Small Businesses
Spreading love and sewing seeds into local small businesses are two of Sheriland “Punkyn” Brooks-Lee’s favorite things to do. She said after a talk with God she immediately knew what to do for her community.
“I told God whenever you’re ready, and I’m more financially stable, I want to do a pop up shop,” Lee said.
Lee is hosting her very first pop up shop April 3rd from 1pm to 5pm at Heavy Hitters Bar and Grill in Marion, Alabama.
She said her goal is to bring something positive to the community while giving local entrepreneurs a platform to help grow their business.
“We need to move Marion forward without just saying move Marion forward,” Lee said.
Lee sees this as way of putting those words into action and hopes the community will come out and show support to the local businesses. She said there are alot of talented people in Marion and this pop up shop will help highlight some of those talents.
A few examples of items that will be sold at the event are candles, masks, pastries, clothing, lemonade, sunglasses, personalized items, seafood, and handmade wooden items.
This has been a long time coming for Lee and a prayer answered for her. As a small business owner of Heavy Hitters Bar and Grill and Lee’s Cafe, Lee understands how hard starting a small business can be.
She said she hopes this event helps with getting the word out there and provides the necessary support to up and coming business owners.
“I’m going to help other people,” she said. “I try to spread love.”
The address of the event is 108 West Jefferson St. Marion, Alabama. It is free to the public and masks required for entry.
